iPhone India launch date

The iPhone has launched in the US alright....So when in India?
The only information we have is that it will be late next year.

There is no use sourcing one from the US as the phone will work only with AT&T plans.Absolutely useless here.Even the iPod part of the phone to play songs wouldn't work.
